Notes, information regarding 3nd year into searching for the appropriate software, hardware (assistive technology) to help my 15 year old daughter with Autism increase, maintain and improve her daily living, communication and classroom skills. Personal toll on finances and time have made it a necessity to build a team to accomplish the goal. I will post my daughters work as it relates to her use of AT at home and School as well. My point of view as we succeed or fail in this Quest.

Hi, Toni.
I came across your blog today while searching for information about OLPC and applications for young people who have autism.
I am a school psychologist who works with teens who have disabilities, including autism spectrum disorders. I am also a computer/technology student.
I am convinced that the upcoming version of the OLPC laptop would be ideal for many students, particularly those who have autism. I am wondering if you know of anyone here in the US that is working towards getting the next version released for use with students with disabilities.
I have developed several prototypes and mini-applications that I'd like to revise for use on the new OLPC design. I would be willing to volunteer some of my time to contribute to the OLPC effort, and target my applications for use with students who are on the spectrum.
You can leave me a message on my blog(s):

I would love to hear what you have developed. My main focus at this point was to take the existing technology and implement systems that would provide a combination of measurable, academic, social, functional progress at or close to their peer level in a safe environment where they have control over the social process and communication process.
This system as a by product also instills life skills with good possibilities of future employment or income streams.
For many on the spectrum at the adolescent stage; it could mark the beginning of finding their "cool factor"; "oyster" - that is the goal.
